Happy Monday Morning!
There were some things that I wanted to add to the Friday Newsletter,
The 4 card Friday cards were:
7,6,3,5 and....
the challenging one:
3, 9, 8, 7
Give it a shot! add/subtract/multiply/divide to get 21.
We also did a tough problem solving problem on Friday that I encourage you to try with your student. They all tweeted their answers! Have them try and "teach" it to you!
Here it is:
A math teacher drove past a farmyard full of chickens and pigs. The teacher noticed that there were a total of 30 heads and 100 legs. How many pigs were there?
Good Luck!
Quick Note
On Friday they received their grades for their cell projects (it is on a small sheet of paper)
TODAY they will get back their science tests!
In Science we are started Mitosis and Meiosis, a concept that is a little bit difficult to understand, we will take it slow.
In Math last week we started Prime Factorization and Scientific Notation. Mid week and through the next we will work with adding/subtracting/multiplying, and dividing fractions and decimals.
One activity we will do is get a recipe and figure out the serving sizes and work with multiplying and dividing fractions. (If your child wants to bring in a favorite recipe that would be great! I will also have some here that they can choose from!)
Another activity we will complete is looking at restaurant menus and inviting 3 of our role models to supper (dead or alive), ordering for them, and this will work with adding, and multiplying decimals.
Lets have a great week!
See you at the Walk-a-Thon on Thursday! I will be there clicking pictures! :o)
