Hello! Week 1 is down! We had a great week getting to know one another, and I am so excited to share pictures and announcements!
Announcements:
2 Items that were forgotton on the supply list, scissors and a ruler. We will be using this a lot for our interactive notebooks both in math and science. If you could please send those items to school by Wednesday, that would be great!
Donations for the classroom: Hand Sanitizer
Zac Ahrendsen's 12 Birthday is today!
---------------------------------------------------------
In Math we will start the week off with converting fractions to decimals and percents and vice versa. By the end of the week we will also be working with integers. In Science we will start to learn about cells and compare and contrast animal and plant cells.
In Reading we are starting a new lesson, with new vocab. Try and encourage your student to use this vocab around the house.
Hysterical- A person who is in panic or very excited
Incapacitated- Unable to work because of damage or injury
Ecstatic- Extremely happy
Crestfallen- disappointed and sad
Lamented- Express deep regret that it happened
Mirth- feeling of amusement that causes you to laugh out loud (I told them that they should use this instead of lol when texting. If they use it this weekend I will give them a reward on Monday!)
Perishable- Food that spoils if not stored properly (I told them to explore the perimeter of the grocery store and they will find most of the perishable items there)
Ricocheted- Something that has hit and bounced off another object.
We did readers theatre, they had to come up with skits and the class had to guess what word they were performing, can you guess what word this was?
This week:
We made cell pals that is a way to easily partner up in class.
In Math we did our first 4 card Friday warmup and I encourage you to try it out. I am giving you homework this weekend :) Ask your students about the rules
Make these cards equal 21 ( you may use +/-/x )
Brainbreaks -they learned a lot of brainbreaks this week. I want to expose the brainbreaks to them so when it comes time to get up and participate, there is not a lot of explaining on my part and we can get back on task after the activity.
See you at the picnic tonight!
